The most long-standing and eagerly awaited brewing competition in Italy returns in 2026: the 21st edition of the Beer of the Year Award, organised by Unionbirrai, celebrating the best Italian craft beers and crowning the Best Italian Craft Brewery of the Year.
Expert tasters from Italy and abroad will gather for blind tastings, selecting the winners of the 2026 edition among the craft beers entered in the various categories.
Three beers will be awarded in each category.

ALL THE NEW FEATURES FOR 2026
The number of competition categories rises to 46, with the introduction of a new section dedicated to low/no alcohol beers, while the special awards system evolves to more clearly highlight the values of the Italian craft brewing movement.
Alongside the historic “Brewery of the Year” title, awarded based on top results across multiple categories and the distribution of medals within the different stylistic families, two special awards take centre stage:
Best Collaboration Brew, dedicated to beers created through brewing collaborations carried out in Italy;
Best 100% Italian Beer, reserved for beers produced exclusively with raw materials grown entirely in Italy, supporting and enhancing the national agricultural supply chain.
